If asked, just ahead of the polls, which candidates are standing in your area, what parties they represent and what those parties stand for, would you know?
A survey of voters in the 2004 local elections suggested that many people did not know the name of the candidate they were voting for until they saw it on the voting slip at the polling station.
The interactive map below details all the candidates in alphabetical order for each constituency in ITV Central's West Midlands broadcast area.
There are links to party websites and, for tactical voters, there is a record of how each party fared in each constituency in 2001.
